The tribute has consisted of a floral offering laid before the bust of Sabino Arana that stands in Bilbao’s Jardines de Albia. Andoni Ortuzar then read out a statement, which was followed by the unveiling of a plaque on the front of the Sabin Etxea building, the house where Sabino Arana y Goiri was born.

The Basque flag -the ikurriña- used to cover the plaque prior to its unveiling will spend the rest of the year touring dozens of Batzokis throughout the length and breadth of the Basque Country. The Batzoki in Abando will be the first stop for the Basque national flag, one of the numerous contributions Sabino Arana made to his Basque Homeland.
