'Ocho apellidos vascos', the third highest box-office grossing European film in 2014

“Ocho apellidos vascos (Spanish Affair in English)”, the comedy by Emilio Martínez Lázaro, was the third highest box-office grossing European film in 2014, according to the report published by the European Audiovisual Observatory today.

The European Council body considers this film to be "exceptionally successful" and adds that "it has become the highest box-office grossing film in the history of the Spanish film industry" with 9,322,010 tickets sold in European film.

The comedy is behind the French films, “Serial (Bad) Weddings”   Philippe Chauveron, and "Lucy" by  Luc Besson, which sold over 15 and 12 million tickets, respectively.
